If you are planning a romantic honeymoon trip to Cartagena and are looking for an itinerary that includes leisure and crystal clear beaches, here are some of our top tips for an unforgettable vacation with your travel partner.

Cartagena is a charming and historic city. The old town is romantic and offers plenty of cultural sights to explore. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and there are options to visit places like the San Felipe de Barajas Castle and the Inquisition Palace. There are also excellent beach options for those seeking sun and sea. Also find in this blog, links to suggestions for where to dine and stay.

Day 1

Arrive in Cartagena and check-in at your hotel. Start exploring the old city with a walk through the historic center and visit the Clock Tower, Cartagena Cathedral, and the Inquisition Palace, as well as the various squares, such as Santo Domingo Square and San Diego Square. In the evening, try the local cuisine at one of the sophisticated restaurants we recommend in the historic center or Getsemani.

Take it easy during your vacations and book a private transfer from the airport here.

Day 2

After a leisurely breakfast, venture out to one of the best beach clubs near Cartagena, on Tierra Bomba Island. Enjoy a relaxing day just 15 minutes from the city by boat and soak up the sun or spend the day resting on the white sandy beach, sunbathing, and enjoying a seafood lunch. Upon returning to the city, watch the sunset from one of the following options: Cafe del Mar, on the rooftop of the Movich hotel in the historic center, on the rooftop of Townhouse, or Sky 51 at the Estelar hotel in Bocagrande, which has one of the best views in the city. Watching the sunset over the Caribbean is a must-see.

Day 3

More beach! Take a day trip to the Rosario Islands, a tropical paradise with crystal clear waters and pristine beaches without vendors or crowds less than an hour by boat from Cartagena. The beaches of the rosario islands are known for being tranquil, with few people, providing a more private and romantic atmosphere. You can book a day trip, which includes boat transportation, lunch, and drinks in some cases. Take advantage of the opportunity to swim, snorkel, or simply relax on the beach. Book in advance for a unique experience in one of the most beautiful places in the caribbean!
