National Aviary & Playa Blanca: Full Day Trip in Barú

Interact with hundreds of birds in one of the largest open and natural aviaries in South America. The National aviary in Barú is not just a bird sanctuary; it’s a vital conservation and captive breeding center for endangered species. When you book this tour to the Aviario Nacional in Barú, you’ll also get to enjoy beach time at Playa Blanca on the same day.

In this bird park, you’ll find a carefully designed space for each species, surrounded by birds from various ecosystems across Colombia the country with the greatest diversity of birds in the world. You will have the opportunity to explore three unique ecosystems: rainforest, coast, and desert, as well as two specialized areas for migratory birds. The aviary is home to approximately 2,000 birds of 160 different species, spread across seven hectares of land.

Located in Barú, just 50 minutes from Cartagena, the Aviario Nacional offers an immersive experience. As you explore, you’ll encounter majestic harpy eagles, vibrant macaws, elegant flamingos, black-winged stilts, Eurasian stone-curlews, parakeets, woodpeckers, Andean condors, cardinals, and curassows. Additionally, you’ll see migratory species that visit the aviary’s 21 stations throughout the year.

Your experience continues at Playa Blanca, where you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at a private beach club. Afterward, unwind with a few hours of beach relaxation, soak in the sea breeze, or simply take in the stunning landscape of one of the best beaches in Cartagena.

Monday to Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. If the slots for 6:30 am are not enough travelers to operate the service, it will automatically changed to 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. We will inform you of these changes if is the case.

The locals of Playa Blanca make a living off of tourism, and because of this, you will encounter people trying to sell you different items and services. This can be uncomfortable for many people. If you are not interested, simply telling them “No thank you” will be sufficient.
Ask the price or negotiate with the natives if you want to buy something outside the beach club first before accepting any kind of service or consuming any food in the beach.
