This four hour tour begins in the modern neighbourhoods of Bocagrande, Castillo Grande and Manga, and continues through the historic district of Getsemani, the stronghold of the heroes who fought for the liberation of the city. We will continue on to el Cerro de la Popa, the highest peak of Cartagena, which is home to a monastery built in the 17th century, where you will have an amazing panoramic view of the entire city. Our path continues to el Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, a more than 400 year old fortress and a UNESCO World Heritage site which is considered to be one of the most extraordinary buildings in all of the Americas.
The guided city tour continues on to the Walled City. Once there, at the clock tower, we will begin a 25 minute walking tour through the main squares, and past churches and monuments, finishing our visit in Las Bóvedas, a main attraction of the old city which now functions as an artisanal market. Get carried away by the incredible culture, architecture and history of Cartagena. You will soon understand why it is know as “La Heroica”, a city with a colonial legacy and cultural richness that is reflected in the happiness of its people.
